General Information
Appointments:
Our practice consultations are managed by appointment only, a standard consultation is 15 minutes, long consultations of 30 minutes are highly recommended if patients have numerous or complex issues to discuss with the doctor. Please check with the receptionist regarding what would be an appropriate time for your appointment and the applicable fees.
We make every effort to see you at your allocated appointment time, occasionally emergencies arise which require management and we appreciate our patients understanding.
Referrals:
A consultation with a doctor is required for a referral to a medical specialist, it is important that the referral is appropriate and the relevant medical information is included for the specialist.
Repeat Prescriptions:
In virtually all cases you will be required to make an appointment with your doctor for a repeat prescription. This ensures good medical practice and that our practitioners meet their medico-legal obligations to patients to ensure prescriptions are appropriate, there are no risks in taking the medication and that your condition is being optimally managed. We appreciate your understanding.
Home Visits:
Home visits are offered to patients who are too ill or lack mobility to attend the practice. The practice provides after hours services through the Melbourne Medical Locum Service. The service can be contacted on 9429 5677, please enquire regarding the applicable fees. An electronic report will be sent the practice informing us of the visit for your medical file.
Privacy Policy:
Your medical record is a confidential document, St Kilda Road Medical Centre maintains security of health information at all times to ensure information is only available to authorised staff members. The practice complies with the Health Privacy Principles and National Privacy Principles as set out in the Health records Act (Victoria 2001) and the Privacy Act (Commonwealth 1988).
Fees:
All consultations are payable on the day, the practice has available EZYCLAIM facilities allowing patients to pay and then claim the medicare rebate on site. When making your appointment please enquire with the receptionist as to the fee applicable.
We provide a high standard of care in a well equipped and located practice. We do not provide bulk billing however there is a reduced fee for those patients holding a health care card or pension card. Longer consultations will be charged at a higher fee with a higher medicare rebate available.
